My week in photos is a weekly post where I share some of the photos that I took during the week that (mostly) didn’t make it to my Instagram feed. I’m always looking for ways to improve my photography skills and welcome any comments.

Holy cow! I think you’ll forgive me for the dearth of photos and for posting this later than usual after you hear about our week.
The week started out fairly normal. We’ve been working on packing up the house and getting ready for our trip to South Africa. We did our usual thing and took Sisko for lots of evening walks. That’s where I found these flowers. It has been super hot and a lot of flowers are giving up and dying, but not these ones. (I think they’re called Black-eyed Susans, but I could be wrong.) Any way, by the end of the week, our we canceled our trip…

Because we were matched with a baby!
(As you can imagine, I’m keeping the details light.)
He was born prematurely and will be staying at the NICU for at least a few months. As you can imagine, we’re over the moon with love for him. We’re also a bit overwhelmed. There is a lot of new information for us to learn and we’re parents now. We went from 0 percent baby to 100 percent baby overnight. I’m a roller coaster of emotions to say the least.
At some point, I’ll do a few more posts about our adoption story. For right now, we’re just taking it all in and adjusting to our new life.

How did your week go?
Wow – congratulations!

Um, I had a good week but becoming a grandma really topped it off! Those flowers are, indeed, blacked eyed Susans.
