my week in photos

My week in photos is a weekly post where I share some of the photos that I took during the week that (mostly) didn’t make it to my Instagram feed. I’m always looking for ways to improve my photography skills and welcome any comments.

It was a great week! My doldrums of the previous week passed and I was able to focus on the positive. I’m sure all of the blooming flowers and new leaves contributed to my much more sunny disposition.

I came across these little flowers on a walk. I’m a terrible gardener and have no idea about what they are called, but I thought I would play with drawing the attention to one particular flower by having the foreground out of focus and using the rule of thirds to place my subject in cross-hairs of the upper left.

I wish I had my macro lens with me while we were out, but I’m happy with how this particular shot turned out.

Even though the week itself was great, I still had pet issues to deal with. Justin took this picture of me filling a syringe of Scooter’s medicine. Thankfully, the cat has settled into the routine and doesn’t fight me (as much) about getting his medicine.

In other news, the dog must have decided that he was jealous of the cat’s extra attention and decided that he needed his own outing to the vet. He’s had a spot on his eyelid for a while and we noticed that it’s been getting bigger. The vet agreed that it looked worrisome and we’re having it removed next week. Pet parenthood FTW.

This is a shameless plug for my yarn shop. My yarn stash is getting out of control and I decided to run a sale. Now through May 25, get 50% off orders of $5 or more.

This black and white yarn is the newest yarn on my shop. I think that I’m getting a lot better at photographing the hanks to show their uniqueness. I’ve been practicing at bluring the background to bring the subject into better focus.

Lastly, it was a great week with friends. Last Monday, I wrote about how I needed to cancel some plans in order to reset my f*** budget. I’m so glad that I did! Justin and I had a lot of fun learning how to play croquet. We’re both terrible, but that’s okay. We got to make a lot of new friends and experience some of what our new neighborhood will be like.

We also went to a dear friend’s birthday celebration. She’s the kind of person that personifies light and love and it was really nice getting to celebrate her. It was also a beautiful day in Colorado that day. Lots of warmth and sun!

How did your week go? Any wins?

  1. My week has been completely filled with anticipation of surgery, surgery, and recovery – now the week is over. It’s a procedure that I’ve wanted to have done for literally decades so I’m very happy to be on the other side of it. Now to get back in the swing of things!
