my week in photos — week 24

My week in photos is a weekly post where I share some of the photos that I took during the week that (mostly) didn’t make it to my Instagram feed. I’m always looking for ways to improve my photography skills and welcome any comments.

I know that I say this almost every week, but it was a really good week. It was definitely a bit busier than normal. I had two doctor’s appointments and went to yoga every day that I wasn’t otherwise engaged. Justin’s mom came to visit at the end of the week, but I’ll share more about that next week. Just know that she is love in human form.

My tiny apartment garden is getting along. Although I wonder, Can you really call it a “garden” when you only have three types of plants? At any rate, I was able to harvest six strawberries so far. Not super great, but I’m hopeful. There has been a lot of new growth on all five of the plants and I think the warmer weather has done them some good. I don’t think that they’re getting quite enough sunlight currently. Our north facing apartment balcony usually gets a few hours in the morning and a few at before the sun goes down. It’s not ideal, but it’s definitely better than having them indoors.

The avocado plant seems to be doing a lot better on the balcony as well. There has been lots of new leaf growth and the trunk (or stem) seems to be a lot sturdier.

On the inside, the bell peppers in the aerogarden are going nuts. We have at least fifteen peppers growing right now and some of them are quite large. I’m going to wait until they turn red to harvest them because I really like the taste of sweet red bell peppers.

Scooter seems to be a lot happier these days. We’ve been drugging him twice per day every day for two months now. He is much more cat-like. He likes to snooze on the dining room chairs and let me take this picture of his foot hanging off the back of the chair. I’m glad that he’s doing so much better.

We went for a hike in one of our favorite places over the weekend. We’ve taken to letting Sisko drink from the river. It seems clean enough and people eat the fish from it.

Justin’s birthday is the week and our anniversary is next week. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by. It seems like we were married just yesterday, but it was actually ten years ago. I don’t know how I was lucky enough to get such an awesome life partner.

How did your week go?

  1. I’m jealous of your peppers! I think in four years of trying to grow peppers, I’ve gotten like 7 peppers total. This year, I planted several seeds and as of last week had two plants that were promising, and two more that were…less promising. Something ate most of the leaves off of the biggest one. I hope it grows back. I just can’t get them to grow!

    1. I wish I had some tips for you, but I have no idea what I’m doing. The aerogarden handles turning the grow lights on and off and I add water and/or nutrients when it tells me to. I took the same approach to growing cherry tomatoes in it with a lot *less* success. I guess I have a hot thumb instead of a green thumb! 🙂
