My week in photos is a weekly post where I share some of the photos that I took during the week that (mostly) didn’t make it to my Instagram feed. I’m always looking for ways to improve my photography skills and welcome any comments.
1. We love getting cards from Mr. Smith’s Mom. They’re always super cute and she takes the time to write us. I really need to work on being a real pen-pal and mailing her back. One thing at a time though.
2. My avocado plant has sprouted more leaves. I still don’t know what I’m doing, but thankfully the plant doesn’t seem to care.
3. Sisko loves that his uncle comes over for dinner on Tuesdays. He normally prances at the door until he sits down and then Sisko claims his spot.
4. I’ve been on an avocado toast kick for the last week or so. After Pinteresting “avocado toast recipes,” I found out that some people put lox on their toast. I didn’t have lox, but I did have a jar of smoked salmon that we picked up on our trip to Alaska. It was amazing. Just the right amount of fatty savory deliciousness that sticks with you for hours.
5. Sisko was not a fan of the heat being shut-off while the construction crew replaced our building’s hot water system. It was a nice, 60 degree day, but this boy is happiest when it’s at least 70 degrees inside and he can cuddle.
6. We went to our monthly small dog meet-up and Sisko had a blast. As usual, he was the most fashionable pup at the gathering. While he’s often more interested in the people, he made a few new doggie friends.
All those colors. Well done! I'll steal this idea if you don't mind. I've been short on new ideas lately. Love this. (I added readingmytealeaves to my reading list … very nice blog)
I'd like to know what attachments you got … like are they physical attachments for your phone or are they apps? You are really taking some amazing photos! Those old bowls are the BEST. I have a nestle of them that we've bought at antique stores while here. I wish those bowls could talk. I wonder what stories they would tell about what they've been used for. (that's how I think LOL)
All these images are wonderful. I love the lazy Susan's but I'm partial to them. The composting is interesting. I'm glad you found a fix for the gnats. That could be a deal breaker for me. Coq au vin … have to look that up! Happy snapping! love, mom
Some bugs are to be expected with composting, but it's all a learning process. I'm not sure you would be into coq au vin. It's chicken cooked in wine. 🙂 Which definitely isn't a problem at our house as we always have a few bottles around.
Nice job finding a solution for runny jelly. I'm having a blast with the grocery challenge. I, too, got creative with my leftovers but forgot to take photos. Rice is the greatest for stretching. I love the egg idea! mom
Our position is that adding an egg to everything makes it better. Want to take ramen up a notch? Add a soft boiled egg. Want to make your rice risotto-esqe? Top it with a poached egg. Want to embrace your inner millennial? Top your avocado toast with a fried egg.
I wondered if you would notice that he opened it over the sink. I started to open it, but handed it over when I saw glitter starting to come out! You got me one time with a card full of confetti that I opened in the car and I vowed, “Never again!”Sisko evidently had a full week based on these pics alone.

The attachments clip on to my phone. I mostly use the macro lens, but I have been experimenting with the telephoto lens lately.
